DAVID BLACKMORE

A Life of Creativity, Compassion & Community
At ten years old, David Blackmore was pulled from the freezing waters of Lake Ontario during what became the largest marine rescue mission of its time.
That moment — a breath between life and death — shaped everything that followed, and the full story is told in his first-hand account, The Captain & the Kid.

From a Regent Park childhood to a lifetime in the arts, David transformed survival into purpose: using music to uplift children, building community programs for low-income families, leading youth arts charities, and championing climate storytelling through the NewArts Climate Generation Project.

Today, even in his senior years, David continues the same quiet promise he made to himself the day he was saved: to give back, to lift others, and to live a life of creativity, compassion, and service.
